What does Bismillah Eats do?
It's a map of verified halal restaurants across Chicago - including "hidden halal" spots (places that serve halal food but don't advertise it). Every halal status is confirmed before a spot is marked green or orange - anything we haven't confirmed yet is labeled unverified.
What do the colors mean?
Green / Fully Halal - all the food is halal.
Orange / Hidden Halal - only some dishes are halal (e.g. a halal wagyu cut at a steakhouse). We tell you which ones.
Gray / Unverified - not yet confirmed (shown only where relevant).
A place serves alcohol - why is it still "Fully Halal"?
Halal status is about the food, not whether a venue has a bar. If all the food is halal, the place is fully halal. We show alcohol as a separate indicator so you can decide what you're comfortable with.
How do you verify a restaurant?
We confirm halal status from the restaurant's own menu/site, suppliers, certifications, reviews, and direct contact. If we can't confirm it, we don't mark it halal - the spot stays clearly labeled unverified, because a wrong halal label is worse than none.
I know a halal place you don't have. Can I add it?
Yes - tap Submit a Spot in the app. We verify every tip before it goes live. You can also email us.
Something looks wrong (closed, not actually halal, wrong info).
Use the Report option on the restaurant's page, or email us with the place name. We'll re-check fast.
How do favorites work?
Tap the heart on any restaurant. Favorites require a free account (Sign in with Apple or email) and sync across your devices.
What's Premium?
Premium unlocks extra features - starting with Find My Meal (describe a craving, get instant halal picks), with more on the way. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions - billing and refunds are handled by Apple.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app: Profile → Delete Account - it's immediate and permanent. Or email us with "Delete my account" in the subject. (Details in our Privacy Policy.)
Which areas do you cover?
Chicago and suburbs today, with new spots added continuously. More metros later.
